چکیده

Accurate atmospheric temperature and moisture profiles are essential for weather forecasts research. Satellite-based hyperspectral infrared observations meaningful in detecting profiles, especially over oceans where conventional can seldom be used. In this study, a HIRAS (Hyperspectral Infrared Atmospheric Sounder) Sounding System (HASS) was introduced, which retrieves using one-dimension variational scheme based on observations. A total of 274 channels were optimally selected from the entire spectrum through information entropy analyses, group retrieval experiments independently performed different fields views (FOVs). Compared with ECMWF reanalysis data version-5 (ERA5), RMSEs (relative humidity) low-, mid-, high-troposphere layers 1.5 K (22.3%), 1.0 (33.2%), 1.3 (38.5%), respectively, similar magnitude to those derived other sounders. Meanwhile, retrieved respect satellite radio occultation (RO) products increased 1.7 K, 1.8 1.9 layers, could attributed accurate RO upper atmospheres. It also found that RMSE varied FOVs latitude, may caused by current angle-dependent bias correction unique background profiles.

All - Weather Hyperspectral Atmospheric Sounding

Remote measurements of Earth's atmospheric state using microwave and infrared wavelengths have been carried out for many years [1, 2]. Physical considerations involving the use of these spectral regions include the relatively high cloud-penetrating capability at microwave wavelengths and the relatively sharp weighting functions at infrared wavelengths, particularly in the shortwave region near ...

Study on Hyper-spectral Atmospheric Infrared Sounder Assimilation

Hyper-spectral Atmospheric Infrared Sounder has many channels. Although, it has been carried out channel selection in the actual application process, but compared with the previous detector, the channel also seems more and thus easy to weak correlation between channels, which is not obey classical variational assimilation theory requires observation error is not related. Hyper-spectral sounder ...

CO2 retrievals from the Atmospheric Infrared Sounder: Methodology and validation

[2] Although it was designed for high resolution/accurate temperature and moisture profiles, the National Aeronautics and Space Administration Earth-Observing System (NASAEOS) Atmospheric Infrared Sounder (AIRS) is capable of measuring variations in carbon trace gases such as CO2 [Chédin et al., 2003; Crevoisier et al., 2003; Engelen and Stephens, 2004; Aumann et al., 2005]. This capability cou...

Interannual variability of mid‐tropospheric CO2 from Atmospheric Infrared Sounder

[1] Atmospheric Infrared Sounder (AIRS) offers a unique opportunity to investigate the variability of mid‐tropospheric CO2 over the entire globe. In this paper, we use AIRS data to examine the interannual variability of CO2 and find significant correlations between AIRS mid‐tropospheric CO2 and large‐scale atmospheric dynamics. During El Niño events, mid‐tropospheric CO2 over the central Pacifi...
